I found it very interesting.
Maybe it can help you work out the cause of your headache!
Natural Migraine Relief With Traditional Chinese Medicine
By Clinton Logue
Each year over 70 million people in the US alone suffer from recurring headaches. More than a third of these have been clinically diagnosed as migraine sufferers. For most people their first step is to seek the help of western medicine practitioners, but a growing number of people are finding natural migraine relief through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
The goals of both approaches are the same – to relieve or prevent pain in order for patients to function well in their daily lives. However their methods of diagnosis and treatment are worlds apart.
Headache Treatment With Traditional Chinese Medicine
We know that different triggers cause migraine in different people, but TCM practitioners group symptoms in patterns and then treat the pattern as it occurs in individual patients. The pattern is characterized by the type of pain, appearance of the sufferer, general body conditions, palpation of the patient’s tongue, and the appearance of the person’s tongue.
The pattern can be caused by internal imbalances such as blood or kidney problems, or external effects like weather, chemicals or environmental factors.
Those interested in pursuing a TCM solution for natural migraine relief will be interested in the most commonly manifested headache patterns and their symptoms:
Wind Heat Pattern
Symptoms: Severe, splitting pain, fever, sensitivity to warm temperatures, along with red eyes, red face, thirst, constipation. The tongue will appear very red with a yellow coating.
Wind Cold Pattern
Symptoms: stiff, aching shoulders, sporadic pain, sensitivity to cold temperatures, pain exacerbated by the wind. Additionally the tongue may have a thin, white coating and the patient may suffer acute thirst.
Kidney Deficiency Pattern
Symptoms: dizziness, fatigue, sore back, ringing in the ears, insomnia. The tongue appears red and patients will have a thin-weak pulse.
Wind Dampness Pattern
Symptoms: “Heavy” feeling pain along with heaviness in the whole body. Chest congestion, a confused feeling, difficult urination also occur. The tongue will have a sticky white coating.
Liver Yang Pattern
The origin of this pattern is said to be emotional disturbance, particularly anger. Symptoms include: dizziness with pain, anger, anxiety, insomnia. Patients usually present with a bitter taste in their mouths, red face and a thin yellow tongue coating.
Blood Stagnation Pattern
Symptoms: chronic pain in a fixed location. Tongue appears purple with a thin-white coating.
Phlegm Retention Pattern
People who are overweight or who consume large amounts of sweet and fatty foods over a long period will have this pattern. Symptoms: dull headache, a feeling of oppression of the chest, nausea and, as the name suggests, phlegm retention in the throat. The tongue appears white-sticky.
Blood Deficiency Pattern
Loss of blood or chronic illness can be the precursors of this pattern. Symptoms: heart palpitations, fatigue, pale tongue with a thin white coating, pale complexion, and a weak pulse.

From this blog that I recently read… taking medication is not the best method to cure your migraine / headache…
I guess there are many ways to cure a headache / migraine. I would rather a simple method like putting on some peppermint essential oil first before any other method.
Acupuncture For Migraine Treatment?
Recent reports suggest acupuncture is more effective than medication in migraine treatment ( Duke University Medical Center researchers).
While everyone experiences an occasional headache, one in six Americans, 20 million of whom are women, suffer from migraines and chronic headaches. While medication remains the mainstay of migraine treatment, it maintains varying levels of success. Today, migraine acupuncture is becoming less the exception and more the norm.
In 17 studies comparing acupuncture to medication for migraine treatment, the researchers found that over sixty percent of the patients using acupuncture reported headache relief compared to only 45 percent of people taking medication. These acupuncture patients also reported better physical well-being compared to the medication group.
Tong Joo (T.J.) Gan, MD, the Duke anesthesiologist who lead the study, has also conducted research to determine the effect of acupuncture on post-operative pain, nausea and vomiting. His research has found that acupuncture can significantly reduce pain and the need for pain medications following surgery. He also found that acupuncture can be as effective as medication in reducing that nausea and vomiting that can follow an operation.
The over-all increase in well-being points to the fact that, in working with a certified migraine specialist, you can energetically get your body “back on track.” The stressors of everyday life can wreak havoc on your system on the whole; for some this manifests as headaches or pain elsewhere in the body. Acupuncture can energetically help right an upset system.
Diet and lifestyle also play a huge role in a person’s susceptibility to headaches. Whether it is food sensitivities or stress-reduction, at Source acupuncture Center I partner with my clients to determine the best course of action for stress-headaches and migraine relief. Acupuncture needles will release the endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers), but you are in charge of how you manage diet and lifestyle choices.
There are many possible causes for a headache or migraine. And there are many way to say goodbye to it.
The article below talks about the importance of drinking water. The author’s migraine was caused by dehydration!
Are you drinking enough water? Did dehydration cause your headache and migraine?
Natural Migraine Remedy That Helped Me Cured This Severe Headache – True Story
By Alex Fir
This is a true story on how I was able to cure my migraine headaches by using natural remedy that is available to people all over the world.
I still remember the day when migraine headache appeared for the first time. I first noticed visual disturbance. I later learned that this disorder is called aura. It lasted about 30 minutes before the pain of a migraine starts. There were no other symptoms. After aura, significant migraine pain lasted for hours. All I was able to think about is finding a dark, quiet place to lie down.
I was in total shock. I had no clue what is going on. Tomorrow I visited my doctor and he told me that it was migraine headache. He warned me that more severe attacks will come. He prescribed me some medications that provided some relief.
All this happened in 2005. For the next four years, I usually had 3-4 migraine headaches a month. Than one day in 2009 I was reading some articles on the Internet and stumbled upon an article that talked about a book that has changed my life. It’s titled “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water” by F. Batmanghelidj, M.D. The subtitle of the book is especially interesting – “You’re not sick; you’re thirsty. Don’t treat thirst with medication.”
After extensive research, the author concluded that he has found chronic dehydration to be the main cause of many conditions including migraine headaches. Doctor teaches how much water you need to drink every day to stay healthy.
After reading this article, I realized that I was drinking very little water; about 1-2 glasses a day, if that. So I decided to follow Dr. Batmanghelidj’s advice. I stared drinking a glass of water every hour! From that moment on, I have never again suffered from migraine headache! For more than one year not a single migraine attack.
I plead with you to read this book and take it seriously. In my case, I had repeatedly suffered from headaches before reading it, but not once since applying its recommendations. As a matter of fact, you do not need to read it. Just start drinking more water!
Think about it. Water is a basic need in life. Our bodies are mostly water. So, what do you have to lose? Try this simple suggestion and see amazing results for yourself.
Big pharmacy and the mainstream medicos do not want you to know about this simple natural remedy. They want you to spend your hard-earned money on their products. They do not like when somebody cures some illness without drugs.
I always carry a bottle of water with me. I drink between 2-3 liters of water every day. And I’m migraine-free. Thanks a lot doctor Batmanghelidj! Of course, you should not try to cure every disease with just water.
Drinking water is one simple secret to health. Another one is regular body detox. Just about everyone comes into contact with toxins. They enter your body through the air and food. They accumulate in the body causing different health problems.
Ridding the body of toxins by using detoxification programs is very good for overall health. You should use body detox products to detoxify your body once a week if you have a lifestyle like most normal people that involves taking in toxins.

Peppermint essential oil can help you say goodbye to your headache within a short few minutes, or even seconds.
If you have this condition often, make sure you check with the doctor to see if there is anything more sinister.
